Successfull Project

Ghanaian Region Coverage

The Training, Research and Networking for Development (TREND) Group was established in April 1989 as a component of a UNDP-sponsored, World Bank executed project called the "Low-cost Human Waste Management Project in Kumasi." TREND was conceived within the framework of the International Training Network for Water and Wastes Management (ITN. The success of TNC as a project within the university and the effort to seek a more favourable and sustainable institutional environment following the expiry of donor support led to the establishment of TREND as an NGO outside the University in May 1995). TREND activities have mostly focused on Ghana and the organization operates as a financially self – supporting group with income derived from its activities but remains committed to pursuing resource centre functions including research and knowledge management.

TREND is a Ghanaian organization established in 1995 as a company limited by guarantee. As a key resource Centre dedicated to the development of the WASH Sector, TREND Group has evolved into an autonomous self-sustaining organisation with Head Office in Accra. The Group operates in all 10 regions of the country and has recently been involved in all the 5 designated UNICEF operational regions. The organisation has also been actively involved in the WASH sector in Sierra Leone and Liberia.
TREND has always striven to ensure that the right qualification and capabilities of staff are either readily available within the organization, or can be mobilized within short notice in the form of external assistance from the national resource base. In response to the many facets of the development sector, TREND retains multi-disciplinary core staffs who have acquired a wide range of experience in areas such as training, research, and materials development, provision of information services and general support for the areas of focus listed above.
